Here is exactly what I do to make money step by step...

If I want to enter a market and find out if it's profitable, I fire up the free wordtracker keyword tool and I look at the number of searches for my main keyword.  I'll then type this same keyword in Google search box and check the number of competitors...

If there are at least eight adwords ads, I know that the niche is profitable, and I continue further...  Basically, I will just confirm what I already know by searching if there are magazines related to my keyword.  For this, I use magazine.com and Amazon.com. 

Lastly, I will use the clickbank marketplace to see if I can find at least two ebooks on my topic.  I know it's hard to believe, but the more competition, the better.  I prefer markets where people are already spending a LOT of money...

The next step is to find what problems people face in my market.  Like this I all that I need to do is to point them to the solution and I am sure they will buy what I am going to promote because they already want it.

For this, I use online forums.  I will just type my main keyword + forums or I will simply use this website: big-board.com to find the biggest forum in my niche.  I also look at what people say on Yahoo answers...

Once I am sure the niche is profitable, it's time to find the affiliate programs to promote.  I just type "my keyword + affiliate programs" in Google, and see if the merchant's page will convert visitors into buyers.  

... Nothing complicated, just put yourself in he shoes of the prospect, and see if you would buy from this page (remember trust, value and proof)...

By using this simple market profitability test, I know if the niche is profitable and what kind of products I should promote...  It's not a rocket science, I just find what people want (more money, pride, security, being wealthier, etc)... and it takes only 10 minutes of my time...

But that's only the beginning.  After I found my profitable niche, I need traffic. I need to find hundreds of visitors... and the best way to do this is to let them find my website.

I know it seems contradictory, but when someone is searching for you, it's the proof that he is really interested and it's what I want... targeted traffic.

There are many ways to get targeted traffic on the Internet, and the more valuable traffic after word of mouth is the search engines...  I could use pay per click advertising, but since I master search engine optimization, I don't need to do ppc, and my return on investment is higher.
