How to get started in affiliate
marketing - Part 1
Make money without spending a dime...
1)
Setting up the foundations
The first thing you need to do is to understand that you are in
business. The Internet made it so easy for any beginner to be in
business fast, but one of the reasons why people fail is that they
don't have a clue about business (more on this later.)
You need to have the right mindset.
When I say the right mindset, I mean that you have to believe that the
product you are going to promote are valuable. You also need to
understand that you will promote your product as it was yours.
And most importantly, you need to be positive.
Setting your working time.
Remember when I told you that you are in business? You have to set up a
schedule. two or three hours every day to work on your affiliate
business (if you are working really hard at your day job, you can set
up your working hours on the weekend.)
You need to be organized.
Believe me, after a couple of weeks working on line, you will soon find
yourself with dozens of passwords and folders. Make sure that you are
organized right from the start.

Find a market
Once you've set up the foundations for your affiliate business, you
need to find a market.
What's a market you ask?
Franck's Answer: it's a group of people who have a common interest, or
a common problem.
Example of good markets:
Health,
Weight loss,
Fitness,
Wealth,
hobbies,
etc...
These are big markets.
But they are way to big, and you can't promote the same product to
every single people in the weight loss market for example.
Why?
Because in this market (let's take weight lost as an example), you have
men, womens, young, baby boomers, pregnant women...
You need to find a niche within the big market.
Yup! What's a niche you ask?
A niche is a segment of a big market.
In the weight lost market, here are a couple of examples:
Lose man boobs,
Weight loss for busy people
weight loss for pregnant women,
etc...
The more specific your niche, the better you will do because your
advertising message will be laser targeted.

3) Find an affiliate
product
Once you've found a market, it's time to find a affiliate program.
NOTE:
You can also do it the other way, I mean finding an affiliate product
first, then find a market. The only problem with this method is that if
you don't know how to pick a market, you may start promoting the
product...and later on, you will find that there is no money in the
niche, or that the product is not what people want.
That's why I prefer the first way (for beginners).

The best products to promote will have a high gravity because every
affiliate sell this product and make sales.

Creating your website
Once you've found a niche and a profitable affiliate program, it's time
to create your website.
If
you are just getting started, I'd recommend you start with a blog. you
can start with a simple blogger blog. It's free and super easy to set
up.
You can also start with wordpress (it's what I use to blog),
but the only inconvenient with wordpress is that you will need to get a
domain name (costs $10) to start. Plus you will also need a reliable
web hosting.

Driving free traffic to your affiliate website
Now, we've talked about:
* Setting up the foundations
* Finding a market
* Finding a niche within this big market
* Finding an affiliate program
* Creating a site
The next step is where you start making money: TRAFFIC.
Remember:
without traffic, no money is made. It's important that you understand
that as an affiliate, you need to focus all your energy on driving
traffic to the merchant page.
Since we are talking about making
money as affiliate without spending money, I'll give you a few traffic
generation strategies that work well for me:
1. Article Marketing
2. Forum marketing
3. Blogging
4. Blog Commenting
5. Web 20 sites like Squidoo and Hubpages
6. Social bookmarking sites like delicious
7. Facebook
8. Twitter
I
think it's more than you need to get traffic to your site for now. This
alone could help you to make a full time income with affiliate
marketing and quit your day job.
Each of these ways are
excellent to getting free traffic, but there is an art to get web
surfers to buy what you promote. This is called the art of preselling
(this is often the difference between super affiliate and affiliate who
can't make $100 per month.)

5)
Create more affiliate sites in the same niche
When you've find a niche that make you money, don't make the mistake to
create site in another niche.
Stick with the same niche.
In
other words, let's say that your first site was in the "fat loss for
men" market, and that you make $500 per month with one site. Why not
creating five other sites in this niche?
That would be $2500 per month.
This is the first step.

Develop a product in the niche
Once you are earning a good income as an affiliate, it's time to create
your own product.
Believe me, when you have your own product, the Internet vault will
open its door.
Don't
get me wrong, you can make a full time income with affiliate marketing
alone, but having your own products will be even more profitable (if
you do this right.)
7)
Get affiliate to drive traffic to your new products
This is the last step:
Get other affiliates to promote your own product.
This is where you make six figures, and even seven figures.

This is some of the mistakes that provent beginners to make money:
1. Starting with many niches at the same time (I know that there are
many gurus and products who try to sell you this method, but believe
me, if you are just getting started, you'd better start with one
market.)
2. Driving tiny traffic to their affiliate site.
Most beginners only drive a handful of traffic to their affiliate site,
and then, they take the conclusion that affiliate marketing is a scam
and doesn't work. You want to drive a LOT of traffic to your site to
start seeing a nice affilate income.
