Today I was studying some of my competitors on EA (like you can do with Spyfu for adwords), and I found several DUMB mistakes from top expert authors.

I mean people who have more than 500 articles out there. They are lucky that an article marketing quality score doesn’t exist yet…

Here are those mistakes:

1. Linking to a weebly or Squidoo type site…

You do not want to do this. You want to link to your OWN web property. Like this, you will get ALL the benefit in term of SEO and traffic.

2. Not using at least ONE keyword you want to rank for in the bio box.

For those who know me, you know that I have a top 10 ranking for ‘affiliate marketing’, and many would like to have this one… I receive free IM products every single day because of this.

Every IMer who want to find JV partner type this term in the search engine, and then send me his product for free! This is cool (I get so much that I can’t look at them all).

Anyway, link to your OWN website!

The mistake I’ve seen today that pushed me to write this post. Someone have a truckload of articles out there, but all she did is add “click here” an anchor text in the bio box!

When I went to check the post in Google, here article was in the first
position. But not her weebly and Squidoo page because of this DUMB mistake!

3. Not Building Your List!

It scares me when I see authors with hundreds or thousands of articles… WASTING all these visitors!

Build your list, build your lists and then, segment your list (this will be another post in itself).

4. Horror!

This one is really scary! When I was studying another of my competitors (with truckload of articles… see below), I clicked on some of his articles and guess what?

It was an error page!

Have a look: 1,062 Active articles, resulting in 1,407,936 views (this is the number of articles of this writer - and no, all his links are not dead… I only checked a few -)

Check your pages warriors… Don’t be another Horror story…!

So there you have it, this will increase your article marketing efforts… Guaranteed! (Especially number 4)

As you know, I strongly believe in education. One of the advice I got from Eben Pagan is that you need to surround yourself with highly successful mentors.

In fact Eben has a series of CD called Mentor Monthly.

Obviously, he is right.

Let’s take my example. You may or not know it, but I am a tough fighter. I am not saying this to brag, but I know how to fight. I teach ‘young fellow’ as well… And when I finish with them, they become tough like me.

Why I am good? Only because I always researched the best teachers. In fact, before I chose a sensei, I always make sure that he is the best in the country.

That’s how you succeed folk!

Well, there are other ways, but I prefer shortcuts…

Butterfly Reports By Mike Filsaime

I just had a look at Mike Filsaime Butterfly reports video, and this is something that I intend to join.

I own the butterfly manuscript manuscript, and I must say that it’s brilliant. It’s funny because when I discovered Internet marketing, Mike was launching his Butterfly Marketing Software.

I didn’t have a penny to buy this, and I was drawn in the launch, reading emails, watching Mike log into his paypal account.

I remember when I show this video to my wife and friends.

Now, the situation is much better. I must say thank you Mike, because I learned a lot from his viral ideas. It works!

The butterfly reports are going to make a big stir in the Internet marketing community (I think).

Last week, one of the best Niche Marketing and Internet marketing blogs on the Internet linked to me and I didn’t even notice it!

The truth is that someone I don’t read his posts because they are too technical for me… Andy really knows what he is talking about.

Andy Beard’s Niche Marketing blog is one of my favorite blogs on the web, along with Michel Fortin and a couple of others.

He was talking about two posts I made a couple of days before. It was about a sentence from John Reese. “Release crap”.

If I didn’t read this article (two years ago), I think my situation would be different now.

Why?

Because I am from the French west indies (La Guadeloupe), and French people have a crazy mentality…

Most of them think that to release an ebook at Amazon, you need to be a nobel prize, or an actor… In fact, they are so late in the Internet marketing game that anyone who take the time to start now in this market could become a “John Reese” there… I am serious.

Most of them will never do anything because of this perfection syndrome… When I started, I was like this and I thought that your product needed to be perfect before you release it.

However, “crap” doesn’t really mean crap. It means that you need to realease your product before YOU think that it is finished, otherwise you will never do anything.

Then, once the product is in the market, get feedback and make it better and better.

Think about Microsoft… and look at windows xp, vista. It works, but is it perfect? I don’t think so…

As for Eben Pagan, I learned so much from him that I don’t know what to say.

Visit Andy’s blog here because he really shares a lot. In fact, I was reading one of his posts about Rob Benwell Niche Annihilation ebook and he said that Rob was earning more than many class A bloggers.

When I read this, I thought… “Yes, it’s true. Bloggers really give a lot. In fact, I believe that you can become an expert in anything just reading blogs on the subject. The only problem is that… it will take a LOT of time.”

I strongly recommend that you read Andy Beard’s Niche Marketing blog at least once a week.

Yesterday, I revised Mike Filsaime Product Launch Process map and listened to the call with Jeff Walker, Rich Schefren and Jeff (I received this map and private call when I bought the Butterfly Marketing Manuscript).

I must say that it was an exceptional call.

I will try my first product launch in one of my non IM niche. I will see how it works.

My best day online ever was $2400 (this is pure profit), in fact I sold $5500 worth of product in 24 hours. The $2400 are my commissions.

Do you need a product launch?

Jeff walker claims that every business owner should do this because the launh itself will be the “fuel” for the business. With all the cashflow generated from the launch, it will be easy to build a full business.

I will try to “crush” this number with a product launch with “Jeff Walker” touch.
