"Submit
Your Website to Directories… Not Search Engines!"
Once you finished your
affiliate website, the best advertising and marketing is done by
submitting to directories.
A few
years ago, webmasters
used to submit their websites to hundreds of search engines, and it was
a good practice. Things are changing so fast on the Internet that
search engine submission has been replaced by directories submission.
You can
submit your site to
free directories like DMOZ or paid directories like Yahoo directory
(expensive). You should submit your site to both paid and free
directories.
Beware of
companies that
promise automatic submission of your website to hundreds of
directories. The best way to submit your website to directories is to
do it yourself or to hire an expert to do it manually, by adding your
site to less than fifty directories per day.
Before you
begin to submit
your website to hundreds of directories, ensure your websites are
thoroughly designed to the professional quality using the right
keywords, good graphics and pictures and relevant content.
Don’t
submit incomplete
websites, or websites full with pay per click affiliate programs like
Google adsense. They will not be accepted. While submitting to a search
engine, make sure to provide information about your website, your
chosen keywords and the name and contact information of your business.
Mere
submission to
directories does not guarantee that your site would be immediately
listed and the ranking will be high. Because there are thousands of new
websites coming up every day and it may take quite sometime before they
take up your site for review by human editors.
Don’t
forget to add a
Sitemap of your website which makes the crawling easy for the web
robots. Your website visitors may also refer to your sitemap if they
are lost on your site.
